Women Empowerment & Community Development Training Program, Tofapur (Varanasi)

NIRMAL Council successfully organized a comprehensive community training and awareness program for a newly formed group of women at Tofapur Centre, Varanasi, on 10 June 2026. The program focused on empowering rural women through knowledge, skill development, health awareness, and livelihood opportunities in line with NIRMAL Council's mission of community empowerment and sustainable development.

Key Highlights of the Program
Health, Agriculture and Livelihood Training

The training session covered important topics including:
• Health and medical awareness
• Livestock (Pasudhan) management
• Sustainable agriculture practices
• Self-Help Group (SHG) formation and strengthening
• Income generation and livelihood opportunities

Women actively participated in discussions and shared their concerns and aspirations related to health, education, and economic independence. The session encouraged community participation and collective problem-solving.

Selection of School Dropout Girls for Education Support
A significant achievement of the program was the identification and selection of 10 school dropout girls. These girls will receive educational support and guidance through NIRMAL Council's education initiatives, helping them reconnect with learning opportunities and build a brighter future. Education remains a key pillar for long-term community transformation and empowerment.

Awareness Session by NIRMAL Sakhi
NIRMAL Sakhi Ms. Neha Yadav introduced participants to the vision, mission, and community development activities of NIRMAL Council. She also explained the various training opportunities available for women and youth, encouraging them to become active participants in social and economic development initiatives.

Sewing Machine Support for Women
To promote self-employment and financial independence, three women were selected to receive sewing machines. This support is expected to help them start or expand income-generating activities from their homes, contributing to household income and strengthening women's economic participation. Skill-based livelihood interventions are recognized as effective tools for women's empowerment and self-reliance.

Leadership and Mentorship
The entire training program was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Kumar, Mentor, NIRMAL Council. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, he emphasized the importance of education, health awareness, livelihood skills, and community leadership for sustainable rural development.

Community Participation
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local women and community members. The gathering provided a platform for dialogue, learning, and collective action, strengthening the foundation for future community-led development initiatives in Tofapur.
